I love making people smile and finding joy in creating and making music - whether that's with a guitar, singing, playing the melodica... who knows!
Alongside my original music and cover versions of tunes I enjoy playing, I also share a bunch of knowledge on my personal setup in the hope you can steal some ideas, and I create tutorials on looping, as well as live sound and recording.
Because it's a question I get asked quite often my Takamine model is an ND15c, and the PRS acoustic is an A55EBG.
I'm always learning too, so feel free to reach out with questions, ideas, suggestions, and we'll see what we can create together.

Episode 27: Ch-ch-changes
This is a wrap up of 'Season 1' for this podcast!
...and yes it will return. (yay!).
I'm guilty of spreading myself too thin - or - perhaps it's me realising that what I truly wish to accomplish and do and enjoy in the world, takes more time and effort than I've been acknowledging!
So - expect to see a bit more of me on UA-cam and socials, a lot more of me on Spotify, and behind the scenes I'm busy deep diving into a mixing course to better understand and produce the music I'm currently recording. Whether or not it still all gets sent to a mix engineer or producer we shall see, but loving the gear and ability to access and learn all of this!
As mentioned in the podcast - check out www.graemejamesmusic.com/

Dave Smith Masterclass THIS TUESDAY 14th May: bit.ly/rhythmwdave So - this video was recorded quite a long time ago and has been on my list to share with you all. I guess todays the day finally! I've found this stuff super valuable and it's obviously helped my rhythm and feel for tunes, plus a lot of times I never took the time to break down timing and rhythm, and DEFINITELY didn't have a frame...

Well - this is a slightly awkward conversation tbh - and that's probably what makes it valuable. A self life and direction check, and for some of you it might bring up the same awkward feels when I started to lean into and take a look at this stuff. Also because it feels like it needs mentioning - nothing you choose will be a wrong choice, and only you'll know if you're lying to yourself, or ar...

Episode 19: Mistakes! ...grow or shrink? (your choice!)
Переглядів 1273 місяці тому
In the podcast today we're highlighting two stories where there was a lack of knowledge for what the gig required. I'm calling them 'mistakes' which they likely felt like to the people as they happened, but I would say in both cases they really were two musicians running beyond the limits of their knowledge at the time. One chose to grow and learn, one complained and essentially blamed the venu...

if the headphones outputs is so low, can i use a amplifier wireless headphones with no problem?
years of solid experience, amazing teaching skills, and still uses the humble old NT1. Speaks volumes of the guy, and also about the so-called YT influencers who try to push expensive gear for nothing.
You could get those wireless XLR transmitters with phantom power and do stereo ambiance mics if you wanted to go crazy haha
You can use AA batteries too right? 1:38
What about recording a handpan , what would i need to do ?
cover of latch at 40:00 is just gorgeous
What are the chords? 🙏🫶
I've tried but just can't get it to work. I followed everything you did (except I used assign 4) as 1 - 2- 3 are doing something. Any suggestions.
Hi, I have a zoom livetrak l-20, I wanted to know if it happens to you too, practically when I solo a track the volume of the same increases why?
the phantom power goes to multiple channels once u hit the button...if any piano mono L/R cable is in those channels....will the piano be damaged?
Thanks!
podrías hacer algo similar con android?
yes - works on android also
If starting with a beat it’s important to record the number of bars required for the chord progression- or you get caught short!
Or you can just record one bar and still record as many bars as you want for other tracks also. Depends on your loop pedal and how you want to do things 👌
Merci à toi mon ami. ! Tues vraiment bon! ne change rien. Au plaisir de revoir tes tutos. Cordialement
Merci! Thankyou!
Thanks for the effort in putting together such a great instructional video, really helpful and very much appreciated.
most welcome and thankyou!
Absolutely delicious cover my friend, tasty chops and crispy but full tone accompanied with that amazingly unique and original style vocal. Well done dude. Underrated song and a great choice for your skillset. BRAVO ✌🏻🔥🆒 they💯
Thank you so much!
Interesting and helpful video. Thank you. I’d be interested in knowing what looper you use and seeing video of your feet g hitting the pedal when you change from track to track. I just have a Boss RC-3 looper and, so far, I only use it for songs with the same chord pattern throughout, e.g. Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door, All Along The Watctower etc. Too nervous I’d stuff it up with choruses and bridges! 😂
heya! In this video I was using the voicelive 3 - sorry no foot cam but brought that in for later videos!
Old guys on youtube trying like:
If I can help you feel free to reach out my friend. Best wishes with whatever you're up to 👌
Thanks for sharing your techniques with us. You have a very smooth style.
most welcome - and thankyou 👌
What a tasteful player. Great job! Our phones are listening to us tho. This looping thing has been on my mind a lot lately and here you are with exactly what I need. Anyway, I’ve made my living playing the last 15 years and started to add the looper but I was able to stay booked without it so I got lazy 🙄 I want to add it now and this is perfect for me to figure it out. Thank you for such a smart way to teach and help others learn.
ah love this. And thankyou! Hope you have fun with your looping journey!
Hi David, I like those Loopy switchers/mure pedals but can’t access them here in the UK unfortunately. Enjoying your educational videos. Cheers, Max, Viral Peach.
aww - do they not send them there? I think orders are only from their website.
You don't see those Takamine NP17C very often. Mine has different tuners. My favorite guitar since 1996.
this one is an ND15c - very similar. Great guitars in that range eh!
I had to replace my pre amp. Installed a cool tube pre-amp, came to life.
@@AlchemyMusicConcept what did you go with? Mine has had issues which is part of why I've changed guitars haha!
Inspiration mate! Learning a lot from you.
thank you!
Which takamine guitar do you use? Thanks

The questiom of the hr: how long will the powerbank power the mixer? Thanks.
Much longer than i care to stay up and wait for 😂
Could you please do a set up guide for the zoom HD8 Hard disc recording studio!??!!! Please for a Fellow Aussie Old muso who needs help. Thanks in advance
Thanks for the request but I don't have an HD8 sorry! Hope you can take your time and work through the manual my friend!
Wow. Your version of hot sun is soon much better than the orig. Thanks for the inspiration dude.
Thank you ❤️
Its a shame that I cannot assign different input fx banks to different tracks, so that corresponding input fx would automatically activate when I play different tracks. What is the point of looper if you cannot do that. How am i supposed to change the track and the input fx bank at the same time. I bought this looper so that i would be able to do that. But it cannot even do such a simple thing. Is programming such a basic and essential function in a looper such a hard thing? Can anyone suggest me a work around?
it's somewhat possible using assigns, you'd assign the effect you want to happen to the same pedal that starts your next loop, or look at your assign options for choosing banks etc (not sure what's there off the top of my head). lots of creative ways to make things happen from the same button push. How long have you had the pedal?
@@davidshanhun Thanks for your insights. I have had it for may be 4 days. I wish there was an assign for " activate input fx bank A or B or C or D". It would have been possible that way. there is an assign for " input fx turn on/off", it wont work for be because I want to use second input fx bank in next track. There is also as assign for "Input fx bank inc/dec", but when I return to the same track again the input fx bank would have gone somewhere else.
@@beenay18 yep - there's a few things like that which would make life a lot simpler - or the unit would become a lot better instantly. eg an assign to directly choose the bank you want. here's hoping somewhere down the track those things get added, but so far even the updates have caused more issues so I expect we're not at adding features yet!
Hey Partner... how do I delete all the markers, and start fresh?? Thanks for all you do. Your videos are priceless for anyone that has a Zoom - L-8!!!

yeah sure thing - perhaps a video on it eh?
Beautiful!! Thank you!!

Thank you for another great vid!! My curiosity for the RC600 is increasing! Dumb question: you don't need to bring the ipad to the gig with the osc after you save everything into the rc ? Did the rc with well with the boss gtk-1000/core?
Hi Derek - you will still need the ipad for touch osc - the buttons on screen are what you use to trigger those things to happen in the rc600. Otherwise you can buy a midi pedal to do the same thing with your feet as touch osc
Thank you for a great vid!! Please, what is the legal board, and case for your older big board? Thank you in advance!!
my older board was this - and I bought a hard case for it later - shop.warwick.de/en/guitar-and-bass-effects/pedalboards/21013/rockboard-cinque-5.3-pedalboards
Totally enjoyed this! I’m glad I found your tutorial and then this! Very talented my friend!
Thankyou!
Side panning, avoid headphone bleeding - lots of valuable advice gently presented. Well done. Thanks a lot!
happy recording!
Amazing job, keeps the essence of the song with a different flavor
Thankyou!
What about singers smacks? Especially within a sung phrase. My sound engineer always complains about these but you can't really avoid it. Any idea about this problem.
You can use a de-esser to minimise how much they stick out, or automation to drop just those brief points. Other than that it’s working with your singer on this. If it’s you - then film & record yourself so you can identify what it is you are doing when you make these noises and go from there 👌
Strange thing the tuner of the guitar is on, which will make it not to play a sound.
Except that your comment is incorrect 😝
@@davidshanhun I guess, sorry 😜
@@TheIvanmendozav no drama haha! It's not a super common pickup style now I guess eh.
a real sadness that such a good guitarist still plays in such sad environments 🤔😂

OMG the tail twirl
seriously though this is super useful. I.. should definitely do this. But I may skip the onesie.
hehe! happy practising with it - onesie is definitely optional!
I just start with muzic, and want to by this for guitar to... but why you have the left pedals a and b. Is it to change setting with youre feet to?
the a&b pedals mean I can assign extra controls to change fx, erase loops etc with my feet also - yep!
Can you use Touch OSC on your Iphone?
yes you can
I'm confused. How do you use the wide master to connect an iPad to the RC600?
via bluetooth
Nice. Great job man..
Thank you :)
Great tutorial. Now I know how to use my Novation LaunchPad Pro MK3 like Touch OSC preset ;)
yass that's perfect!
hello i love your vidoes, do you know how i would 'come in' to the L8 , with 2 x 1/4 jacks. The jacks have ' left' a dj equipment , a pioneer xdj xz,...im getting confused on how to connect the 2 jacks....your wisdom is very welcome thanks jeff
hey Jeff - I would put those 1/4 inch jacks into channel 7 or 8. they are designed for a stereo input like this. Otherwise if you want more control, you can choose any other two channels to use also.
@@davidshanhun thats fab thank you
